Winding up this discussion:
Topic 1: Do you think our government could become like that in V for Vendetta? Why or why not? If yes, how might it come about?
Topic 2: Now think about Anthem. What could happen to make our society like that in Rand's novel? Is this realistic? Which future is more likely, that of V or Anthem?

Week 5
And on we go ----
Topic 1: How important do you think individuality is? Can one be an individual and work in harmony with society? If forced to choose, which is more important - individuality or conformity? Why?
Topic 2: If modern society were destroyed, what part would you hope to play in rebuilding? Discuss.

Week 4
Changing our focus:
Topic 1 - In V for Vendetta, several groups are persecuted by the new government. It is unfortunate that over and over again we see groups of people choose to marginalize certain people. Why do you think we persecute people who are different than we are?
Topic 2 - Whether we want to admit it or not, we are all prejudiced against certain groups of people. Is there a way to end this? In our lifetime? In the lifetime of our children? Please don't rely on the argument that it's just "human nature" to behave this way.

Week 3 Topics
Here are your topics for this week. Have fun!
Topic 1:
When I was little, my parents read to me all the time. Probably because of that, I love to read. My best memory involving reading, though, has to do with my grandmother, not my parents. When I went to spend time with her, she took me to the library and let me take out as many books as I wanted. I would go back to her house with a stack of books more than a foot high, and then spend the rest of my visit with my nose in a book. Heaven! For this entry, write about your favorite memory related to reading. If you don't have a favorite memory, write about your earliest memory.
Topic 2:
Who's your favorite literary character? Why is s/he your favorite? Do any of the other literary elements play into what made this character your favorite?

Week 2 Topics
Topic 1: This week we're studying the different elements that work together to create a literary work. Has this helped you to understand and appreciate literature more or less? Discuss.
Topic 2: Drama is more closely related to media (such as TV shows and movies) than the other literary forms we've studied. Would you characterize TV shows and movies as literature? Why or why not?
